Vera Deek, Director of Community Relations at the Jaffa Administration of the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, where she leads large-scale community processes, and creates collaborations with residents, local organizations, and diverse stakeholders. She also volunteers with the Scouts troop of the Orthodox Club in Jaffa and with other communities. Vera has extensive experience in educational-community work within formal frameworks and informal initiatives, with an emphasis on strengthening community resilience and promoting shared living in Jaffa. Previously, she served as an educator and system coordinator in schools and led leadership groups for girls. Vera holds a bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Education from the Kibbutzim College of Education, Technology and the Arts; a master’s degree in Management and Organization of Education Systems from Beit Berl College; and is also a graduate of the “Avney Rosha” program for training principals and educational leaders. Vera’s commitment to social action and strengthening the human fabric in Jaffa stems from a deep belief in the power of community to create change, and from a desire to be a bridge between societies, cultures, and generations. She lives in Jaffa, is married to Michel, and is the mother of Nicola and Yousef (twins), and Alexa.
