CoLab and the Israeli Association for Community Centers (IACC) jointly initiated and operated a program designed for community centers’ managers in the northern region with the aim of promoting social cohesion through joint action between communities.
The IACC is the leading social organization for building local communities in a nationwide network and provides services to all communities in Israel.
The program operated between October and December 2021 and was attended by 19 community centers’ managers from all parts of Israeli society.
During seven full days of activity, the participants got to know each other and their communities better, went on inquiry journeys and promoted new social initiatives. In the last meeting, they presented the initiatives and were assisted by experts from various fields of knowledge to develop them.

CoLab & Oranim College

2018-2022

The ‘Uniqueness for Cohesion’ seminar was developed based on the CoLab model with the aim of imparting knowledge and skills for building connections between groups in Israeli society. The seminar, intended for students in the Department of Community Social Education at Oranim College, was developed and led by CoLab graduates: Dr. Merav Even-Chen Solomon, who was the coordinator of the leadership track in the Department of Community Social Education at Oranim College, and is currently the head of this department; and Zohar Yonai Dvora. The seminar was held as a three-day active and focused research journey to build connections in Israeli society. As part of the seminar, the students got to know their journey partners through spiritual biographies, planned inquiry journey, drew on articles they had studied, met CoLab graduates who presented activist worlds in various communities in society, and began developing social initiatives. The seminar was delivered as a course to students at Oranim College for five times, between the years 2018-2022.

About

CoLab was established in 2015 by UJA-Federation of New York to promote social cohesion in Israel through collaborative work.
CoLab is a Laboratory For Collaborations where social influencers from diverse backgrounds come together to get to know each other, explore identities, deepen relationships, and experiment with connections to advance collaborative efforts and promote a better society.
The mission of CoLab is to create a reality in which differences among people and groups serve as a source of growth, empowerment, and social resilience. CoLab is built on the idea that diversity in people and perspectives can foster connection and collaboration, rather than being an obstacle to be overcome.

Annual Fellows Program
The CoLab Doctoroff Fellowship, in honor of the visionary leadership of Alisa and Dan Doctoroff, is an annual program based on the richness and variety that the 20 selected fellows—who come from all parts of Israeli society—bring with them. The fellows share their life stories, identities, perceptions and narratives, get to know each other and explore inquiry journeys in Israel and New York. Together they learn, experience and collaborate to develop and promote social activities.

A Broad Alumni Community
A broad alumni community currently consisting of 265 program participants over the years, with diverse and distinct identities, each leading social processes in their own field and collaborating for social action.

Co-Org: CoLab in Organizations
A tailor-made program for organizations based on the principles and methods of operation of the fellows program, with the aim of promoting collaboration in Israeli society. Programs are adapted in content and scope for organizations that wish to enable employees to participate in a unique CoLab program.
