Tomer Avital

Tomer, an Independent journalist founder of the public communication medium Shakuf (i.e. Transparent), teaches writing and activism workshops and lectures at The Kibbutzim College and IDC. Tomer was awarded the DIGIT Prize for Excellence in Online Journalism and was ranked one of “100 most influential people in Israeli media” by Globes Newspaper. On his free time, in order to spice up the routine life, he creates poetry and art in a special group he founded called “Nishnooshey Shira” (i.e. Poetry Snacks). He lives in Tel-Aviv.

Shelly Gottfried

Shelly, a researcher at CITYPERC who also works as head of forecasting in a finance technology sector startup. Prior to that she was a CEO of The New Public, a trader and manager of the energy desk in Futures First. She wrote several researches, lectured in conferences around the world and won many scholarships. She holds a B.A. in economics and philosophy from Tel Aviv University, an M.A. in E.U. studies from La Sapienza University of Rome and Ph.D. in international political economy from City University in London. She lives in Tel Aviv.

Shlomit Ravitski Tur-Paz

Shlomit Ravitzky Tur-Paz, an attorney, a group facilitator, and a lecturer in the fields of Judaism, gender, and law. She serves as director of the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Center for Shared Society at the Israel Democracy Institute. Prior to this, she was a fellow of the Mandel Educational Leadership Institute and director of Beit Midrash Elul, which brings together different sectors of Israeli society for the purposes of studying, communicating, and creating. Shlomit also founded and co-managed the Itim Center – Resources and Advocacy for Jewish Life; founded and managed Shearim, a pluralistic Beit Midrash in the Maaleh Hagilboa Yeshiva; and was an instructor in the Israel Culture Department of the Ministry of Education.
She served as chairperson of Rashut HaRabim, a coalition of Jewish renewal organizations in Jerusalem, and as a member of the boards of Kolech and Panim.
She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law from the Hebrew University and has also studied Judaism and philosophy in a variety of academic and religious frameworks. She is a member of Kibbutz Kfar Etzion and a mother of five.

Rita Brudnik

Rita Brudnik, a projects manager of social impact and change processes, and currently the director of Impact Programs in ROI Community. Previously, she served as Community and Partnerships Director at Techforchanges, a digital and community platform for Ukrainian refugees. Rita is a social activist with the Women Wage Peace organization and a former headquarters coordinator. In the past, she was the head of BINA, the secular yeshiva in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, and worked with at-risk youth. Rita made Aliyah to Israel at the age of ten from the former USSR, and she was the founding director of Fishka, a community for Russian-speaking youth in Israel. Rita holds a B.A. in educational therapy, is a graduate of the Gvanim Olim Leadership Program, and has completed other community leadership programs. She lives in Holon and is a co-founder of the CoLab initiative: Tahrir – Bina ‘Shechuna’, a cultural initiative.

Faigy Cohen

Zippora (Faigy), the Director of the Supervising Team for the Girls’ Elementary Schools in the ultra-Orthodox district of the Ministry of Education. Prior to that, she was the General Superintendent. In the past, she served in various positions in the ultra-Orthodox education system, focusing on instruction, remedial learning, and educational counseling. She is involved in diverse social initiatives within the ultra-Orthodox community across many areas, including education, welfare, employment, and dialogues within the Haredi society as well as with the wider Israeli society. She actively seeks ways to implement necessary changes while preserving what is good and beautiful in the community she lives in. Faigy holds a B.A. in special education with certification in educational counseling and an M.A. in conflict management and resolution from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. She lives in Jerusalem.
She is a co-founder of the CoLab initiative: Ultra-orthodox Students Communities.

Amit Schejter

Amit Schejter, a full professor of Communication at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev; and the chairperson of The Association for Civil Rights Israel (ACRI). Prior to that he was the president of Oranim Academic College of Education, and before that he served as the Dean of Social Sciences and Humanities faculty and as the Head of the Communication Department, both at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Amit is the author and editor of seven books, published more than 70 articles and is the founding editor of Journal of Information Policy. In the past he was member of staff and head of the Institute for Information Policy at Penn State University, advisor to The Ministers of Education and Culture-Yitshak Navon and Shulamit Aloni, legal advisor and in charge of International Relations at Israel Broadcasting Authority, and Regulation COO at Cellcom. He holds a L.L.B. from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, an M.A. in mass communication from Boston University and Ph.D in information policy and communication from Rutgers University. He lives in Tel Aviv.

Michel Ben Shitrit

Michel, the director of the Department for Community Building at the IACC (Israel Association of Community Centers), where he works since 1998 in various positions. He was the director of the community center in Shlomi and Mitzpe Ramon, was the director of the children and youth discipline in Mizpe Ramon, facilitator of the Northern District and in the past worked as the director of the Southern District for The Jewish Agency. He lives in Kiryat Tiv’on.

Maha Abu Katesh

Maha Abu Katesh, in charge of post-primary education in the Arab sector at the Jerusalem Municipality. Prior to this position, Maha was the headmaster at Mukkaber High School, an organizational consultant at the Mosaica non-profit organization, and the deputy principal and headmaster of Kol Israel Haverim School for the Deaf. Maha was also the director of an educational treatment center for students with hearing impairments in East Jerusalem, a lecturer at David Yellin College, and a youth facilitator (for Jews and Arabs) in Neve Shalom. Additionally, she founded and coordinated an educational club in Abu Gosh. She holds a B.A. in special education and primary education from David Yellin College, an M.A. in hearing impairments from Tel Aviv University, and an M.A. in education policy and management from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She studied management consultancy at Bar-Ilan University and group facilitation at an institute for certifying group facilitators. She lives in Abu Ghosh.

Yael Nezri

Yael, the nationwide educational youth inspector for informal social, and educational programs in local authorities in the Ministry of Education. She emerged from the formal system as an educational counselor and from the informal system as the director of a youth department. She served in many positions in this field and until her current position, she integrated the Youth Law in all the local municipalities and upgraded the state support in the law. She developed in Israel the first pedagogic language of informal education through a national committee that wrote its principals. In this field Yael is leading 256 managers of educational departments and employees of local authorities and also supervises Educators in Uniform — soldiers who serve in the community. She lives in Atlit.

Yossi Bar

Yossi, the deputy CEO of Tzohar Halev, a nationwide chain of centers for those with special needs. The chain operates 15 centers throughout Israel, employs over 1000 staff members and tends to about 1,300 proteges from the entire spectrum of disabilities. In the past, Yossi initiated and established academic classes for B.A. and M.A. studies for ultra-Orthodox students. Yossi is a graduate of Talmudic education in Jerusalem and Haifa, holds a B.ED. from Oranim College and has a senior teaching certification from Achiya College. He lives in Nahariya.
